I think getting a realistic watercolor painting look through digital means is much more difficult than a oil-color look. I tried quite a few things with this image to reach here. Would be grateful for your views on whether this works as a digital watercolor.

Regards.

Very convincing watercolor Ashim! The texture is a bit heavy for my taste --- maybe a simple sandstone instead?

Yes it does have a watercolor look. Perhaps you could go a bit lighter and less detailed on the paper?

It does look like brush applied water colour, and now you can work on refining the finished product. There are so many techniques and filters its quite a minefield!

I agree-watercolor is the hardest to do convincingly. Your brushwork is very good. Just the texture of the paper is perhaps a bit rough, though there certainly IS paper like this. Maybe cropping it a bit would show less white paper. Nice work!

Ashim, Very good try. My wife tells me all the time that water color is a tough medium.

Thanks to all for the constructive feedback. I too found the paper texture a little disproportional and the image a little unfinished.

Here is, hopefully, the "final" version :-) Pls let me know if this works.

You have more detail in this one, which is a definite improvement for me, although it catches my eye each time when I look at this picture and see the two smaller objects each side of the fruit bowl because their tops intersect the line along the back. Not a good thing IMO.  Just my two cents worth Ashim. 8)

Second attempt definitely looks better-more refined. I like the edge of the bowl showing and a bit more definition to the fruit. The yellow background is nice too. Would agree with Carol on the composition, it holds true for any art or photo, I think, not to align edges. But overall, this is quite nice.
