A late march snow and a bleak landscape needs some artistic help.

Lovely image -- I really like the glow which resembles a touch of Orton effect. Could you share some technical details?

The darkness and glow really set the mood.

I really like the colours in the BG, and the glow on the whites. I might lighten some of the shadows a bit. My sentiments exactly!

The basic raw image was rather dull with muted color and a lack of contrast. Step 1 was to work on the raw file to selectively  enhance  the saturation of the grass and to darken the background. To achieve the glow I used a blur layer and then applied a mask . I used the mask to paint out some of the glow and keep the tree as a center of focus.

I must admit I am not that good at digital art but every now and then I will "mess around with an image" and on occasion it works out.

Thanks for the explanation- I really like how it came out with the yellows and ochers cheering up the scene a bit. Agree 100% with your sentiment-we still have 3 feet of snow on the ground here!
