Nice effect. It would be over the top, if you could get it to be seamless in the top middle.

That's pretty wild. Agree with Jerry. Perhaps use a little liquify in Photoshop to join/smear the edges?

Love the colour and the glass globe idea - like a fine paperweight! Good idea from Cindy to use liquify, if not, turning the image upside down to put the join at the bottom works better for me.

Thanks for the suggestions! I don't have PS, but I used the spot healing brush in PS Elements to eliminate the line and I also turned it upside down. Here's the new version:
