A great photo opportunity will present itself in the Sage Steppe and Ponderosa Forest ecosystems in the coming week.  Cabin Lake (where many of the photos on Naturesscape come from) is nearby.  See  where the oldest Nikes in the world were found.  Nearest city is Bend Oregon.

I clicked onto the museum link and came up with the image of the sandals.  As I looked at them, I was in awe briefly trying to imagine the time that a person, thousands of years ago, put into making this pair of sandals.  It is fascinating Mike.

Although I have not been there, it seems to me from afar that the Pacific Northwest is still a natural treasure.

These weren't the squash and corn eating modern Native American but big game ice age fellows.  Mammoths, horses and Camels were their quarry (of course there were times when fowl was on the menu, they lived on lakes).
