Thought this would be an appropriate photo with Valentine's Day being this Sunday. A pair of Razorbills displaying some touching of bills which is a courtship behavior from my trip to Machias Seal Island off the coast of Maine.
It is said that a mating pair will court several times during breeding periods to strengthen their bond between the two. Once a female chooses a male, the two will stay together for life. It was really heart warming witnessing this behavior first hand. 1dx, manual, 1/800sec @ f/8, ISO 250, 70-200mm f/2.8L + 1.4x @ 235mm |
