Photo taken at Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas.

Nikon D810, 300mm lens, 1400 sec at f/8, ISO 800.

He had just finished bathing and jumped up on a perch that was close to the water hole.

Great job exposing the reds here and a nice creamy background. Not crazy about the perch but still a very nice image.

Very nicely done, Gene. I like the bird and BG. I wonder if making this a horizontal image may make it even more pleasing, since IMHO I'd like to see more BG than perch? Not sure if you have the space to the left of the frame.

Andre,  I don't think the reds are oversaturated.  The red appears to me to be very close to what I saw with my eye while photographing.  In South Texas, the Cardinals are a subspecies and are a brighter red than Cardinals found in other locations.
