Although we have a fair number of snowy owls in the Ottawa area (at least 5+ in the Eagleson - Richmond road area) it pales in comparison to places like Wolfe Island where a survey counted 46 snowy owls yesterday.  46.

Someone counted 26 snowy owls on Amherst Island in late January. Also in January, 11 were seen east of Casselman and in the St-Isidore area.  This is the 3rd straight year where higher than normal numbers of these owls have been seen.

7D MK2, 70-200 2.8L + 1.4x III, handheld.  Hope everyone is having a great winter.  Thanks for looking.

Great BIF image, Wilson. I would eliminate the dark area from the bottom, if it were mine.

Snowys are what makes the winter tolerable for me :)
Love the outstretched curve of the wings. The blur creates nice movement
Nice flight image of a beautiful owl

Great shot. Massachusetts and the Northeastern United States has also some big influxes in that same time, particular 2013-2014. I saw 13 of them around Boston in a day that year. One bird made it to Jacksonville Florida if you can believe that!
