Haven't had many sunny days - so a great gray on a gray day. This great gray had a successful hunt. Love watching them dig in the snow for a meal.

A very evocative photo; tells us not just something about the bird but about where it is and what kind of day it is. The muted stubble showing in the background help make the shot.

The only thing I might change if this were mine would be to crop some off the top, especially since the bird is looking downwards.

Great image which shows a behavior usually ignored by photographers. Love it!

Thanks Mike and Ed for the much appreciated comments. I have many images of GreatGrays flying or perching (one of the few benefits of living in the north during the winter), so I try to look for something different.
Mike - I will try to rearrange the comp. It does make more sense to create a 'push' towards the direction of the owl's look. Thanks :)

Click on the image to bring in the darker surround and it shows much better. I love different behaviour illustrations that show the characteristics of various species and this is very nicely done Deborah!
