This tame snowy owl perched on the post for about 30 minutes before it finally pooped and took flight.  The owl can be seen just about any day along Rushmore road in Ottawa's west end.  If not, then look just one field over on Brownlee.  I counted 3 owls today in the area.

Canon 500 f4 II + 1.4x III, Gitzo tripod.  Thanks for looking.

Thanks Alfred.  Had a blast photographing snowy owl again today.  Was there in the morning with another photographer and we both had some quality time with the owl.  Just the 2 of us and the owl.  We left the owl in pretty much the same spot I found it.  Went back again in the afternoon with someone else.  Had my share of snowy owls I think.  Will be hopefully photographing long-eared owls next week, saw-whet and maybe northern hawk owl too. Owl diversity :-)

Thanks Alan.  I hear you.  Funny you mentioned that.  I sent a lady in Saskatoon a copy of this photo.  She printed a 13 x 19 and loved it. A gift for her son. Then she cropped it vertical and sent me a photo of it framed on the wall :-)  lol  She also darkened the image for more contrast.

Thanks Ed.  Sometimes you have to walk in a field or two.  I have been sharing owl sightings for over a decade.  Usually owls that a lot of people already know about.

I like to strike a balance as I keep a lot of other owl sightings quiet.  These are usually owls that very few people know about.  I bet few people know that there was a Boreal owl in Ottawa this winter and a Northern Hawk Owl not too far from Ottawa that was recently photographed.  These sightings were shared with me but told to keep it quiet far as location is concerned.  People can trust me with those sightings.  Last winter someone told me about 2 Boreal Chickadees near Ottawa and to keep it quiet.  I kept my word and never told anyone.
