Pardon me, but how do you know that this is a White-rumped Sandpiper when the rump of the bird as seen above is clearly not white ? None-the-less it's a great flight shot of this little guy.

Thank you for the comment! I'm quite sure about the ID. It is the birds tertails that is covering the white rump and therefor it appears to have streaking. Also no other calidris have such heavy streaking along the sides during their nonbreeding plumage. Another characteristics is the rather long bill and the prominent eyebrow.

Hi Ivan
It's kinda hard to tell from the eyebrow and beak, but from the streaking on the side I'll give it to you. Too bad when it comes to smaller birds in-flight many times we don't have too many shots to pick from.

Very nice example of a flight shot of a small Calidrid, generally difficult to get.  I agree with you on your ID, due mainly to the flank streaking.  It's also possible that for the location, no other peeps might be possible except probably Baird's.  The fact that the white upper-tail coverts aren't clearly visible (and also that we can't hear its distinctive mouse-like call) makes this a good ID quiz photo.
