Juvenile Red-tailed hawk, photographed in Southern California. Quite happy to see this young pristine bird in winter habitat.


Canon 1D-X with 600 f/4 II + 1.4XIII. ISO 640. f/5.6 at 1.3200sec. Hand held from Dave Salem's truck which was used as a moving blind to get close to this raptor. processing: DPP 4.3

What a great looking you hawk he is. The dark BG looks awesome and highlights the well lit and detailed hawk very well. We sure had a fun few days.
