Here's one from the vault (2009) when my only body was a 40D (I still have it). I occasionally go back through old images to see what I might have overlooked at the time.
Canon 40D, 800mm f5.6L IS, ISO 200, f 9, 1/500 sec, AV, tripod

This was taken during spring migration at Bottle Beach near Westport, WA. Tens of thousands of shorebirds stop over there on their way north and many are in breeding plumage. It is often possible to get quite close to them.

Thanks Matthew. Agree about the 40D. That plus the fact that back then I was shooting at ISO 200 most of the time made for nice images.
