Purple finch (male) are year-round residents and breeders of the  Adirondack Mountains, near home  . .  as photographed here.
I used fill flash.

My first post here in a long time. 

Camera Model: Canon EOS 7D Mark II
Shutter speed: 1/100 sec
Aperture: 5.6
Exposure mode: Program
Flash: External E-TTL
Metering mode: Evaluative
ISO: 400
Lens: EF500mm f/4L IS USM +1.4x
Focal length: 700mm

Nice evenly lit image. Looks like there was not much natural light available based on the settings.

A great setting and colors with a very nice BG and perch. My only wish is that the bird gave you a nicer pose to see the side and tail.
