Gyrfalcon

Taken last year near Vancouver, B.C. Canada
I saw and heard this bird strike a mallard right above me. The duck was thrown off course a bit but kept going, having dodged a rather large "bullet".

Canon 1D4, 500mm f4L IS II, ISO 400, f 6.3, 1/2500 sec, manual exposure, hand held

I agree, any time you can frame a Gyr at a reasonable distance is a good time to shoot one. The clouds really help to make this one special. Well done
