I'm spending a week visiting good friend Alan Murphy, and we're hitting the photography pretty hard. The past few days we've been concentrating on infrared trap photography (he's using a Photo Trap, and I've got a Range IR). During daylight hours our subjects have been little birds (Chickadees, Titmice, and Cardinals mostly). But when the sun goes down, we shift our focus to owls. We got a beautiful Red Phase Eastern Screech-Owl to pay us a visit this evening. A lot of planning and hard work went into the shot, but we were high-fiving after this encounter! Click on the image to see a full-sized version.

Canon 1Dx, 100-400 II @ 114 mm, f/11, 1/200, ISO 640, tripod, 2 flashes, Range IR

This image is one of the best I've seen, Doug. Love the wing extension and the fact that I can see the feet & talons.
