South Padre Island April 2013

Major fallout still widely discussed among regulars. 30 mph North wind. Constant drizzle. 58 degrees at noon. Swallows hopping around on the ground at your feet. Curious onlookers taking full frame photos of cold and wet warblers on the ground with their I-phones. About 2000 orioles on 5 trees. In retrospect, would have put on the wide angle, but had just purchased 600mm lens, and I was blinded by new love. Most birds didn't photograph very well close-up. Again, wet and cold. Most looked sick. But this little survivor was still flying around in the rain enough to look somewhat dry and well.

Very beautiful light and BG here Todd. For me the overall image is a bit tight and I wish the bird's head wasn't turned away from you.

Very nice warm light and I also like to see a little head turn toward you, Todd!
Oh, would back off a touch on sharpening too.

Todd, what a story and with 30mph winds on top of that.  You came away with a tenacious, colorful little beauty in some nice light.
