On my trips down south I have always found this species to be extremely skittish and difficult to photograph. On my recent trip to southern Alberta they were fairly common and much less skittish. This was taken at a flooded farm area near Frank Lake Alberta.

Tim

Spot on. I always say if you are doing a reflection shot...get it perfect. You nailed it. Great colours too.

At this shooting angle the head turn (as is) is vital ...
Cool shot and a keeper, Tim!

This is a beauty Tim. Well done getting the whole reflection, and capturing all the iridescence in this birds plumage.
Thanks for looking,

Tim, you certainly did nail it as Graeme said. Everything came together for you. That must feel awesome since your previous attempts didn't work out for you. Congrats!

Tim, amazing colors and iridescence captured, great to get such calm water for this beautiful wings-up reflection presentation.  Fancy plumage on this individual, very successful image.

We get them down here in pretty good numbers, and we can get really close, but they don't have that great rich adult color like this one dose.
The pose has highlighted the beautiful colors well and whatever it didn't cover, the killer reflection did. Sweet frame and congrats on the EP
