"A Longing Spirit"
Some new work from Great Falls National Park. I loved the contemplative look to this heron's pose. It seemed like he was dreaming of something distant. Thanks for looking!
Techs: Canon 7D, Canon 400 f/5.6. 0.4 seconds, f/22, ISO 100. Tripod.

Chris, this is beautiful and well seen. I really like the framing and composition.

Thanks for the comments, all!

I wish the bird was just a touch sharper too, James, but I didn't feel it ruined the image as is. Thanks for the honest critique.

As always the slow water with a still bird makes for a great shot. This is a nice one in your series: I like the bird against the water.
I am at GFNP 4-6 times a year and never see Great Blues sitting still!

I really enjoy these "birdscape" images of the herons and waterfalls.

Best,

Matt

Hey Chris!!  Well these just keep getting better and better! I think I share your love of shooting Great Falls and thanks to you I now do so, although  it's been a while. Endless compositions and subject material and what a refreshing place to hang out. Just checked out your "Adrift" one and love it. Fantastic composition and interesting action on that one too. I can see that the 7D or a 7DII is just about the right body for the Falls. This pic though makes me want to get back real soon though.

Sweet work Chris!
