this is a planalto hermit. they just came in twice and i was lucky to get this guy !!! :-)  they are a bit afraid of other hummingbirds so they just come in if the area is free !!!

this was done this weekend, at my house in the mountains, 3000 ft altitude,

as tim said, its fun.

i have produced all sorts of backgrounds with some blobs of different colours to play a bit .

i find the buffer of the d810 a bit short to shoot hummers.... but it does work...

d810/ 300 2.8 vr / 4 nikon flashes @ 1/32.

critics for different ideas are always welcomed .

regards to all here!

Beautiful rendition of colors. Outstretched wings and tail spread makes it a great shot.

Wow!! that is beautiful. Love the pose with the raised wings and the flared tail. The head angle looks great as we can see it's eye and facial features well. Not usually fan of unnatural colors in the BG but this one works. I like the Hyacinths flower too. Well done

david,
thanks for the interesting comments.
actually the purple blobs are defocused flowers from my garden :-)  i did not maniplate the colours in any way...
i would assume that by natural colours you mean that you prefer more neutral colours like green tones or brownish/green tones ?

regards.
andre.

Andre, a beautiful and interesting pose that goes great with the angle of flower, like an unspoken dance.  Lovely colors and details too.

Andre,

Knowing now that the blobs are natural flowers, it makes the shot even better to me. Not that I wasn't enjoying the shot or the BG, as I really like it, but I see many frames with colors in the BG that are unnatural, like buildings, cars and other things in the BG that can produce different colors.
One to be proud of Andre. Oh, I meant to say Hibiscus instead of Hyacinths when I mentioned the flower. TFS
