Great exposure control and detail. Even thought the woodpecker is higher than you, I still feel connection with the eye contact. That yummy juicy thing in his beak is a bonus :)

I am going to critique this but please do not take this as criticism of the photo.

A photo which comes close to being great. Looking up at the bird always detracts from an image for me. What I tend to do is place the bird lower in the crop to give the impression that you were more at eye level.

Nice colors and detail. He picked a really great-looking limb for your image.

Nice shot with interesting details in the bird and branch. Nice sheen on the blacks.

Thanks Missy Mandel! I completely agree with you, the woodpecker was pretty high in the tree and the final result doesn't show that very clearly. My best guess is that the massive compression effect created by the 600mm + 1.4x tc creates sort of a illusion.

Thanks WDCarrier, I was very fortunate for that berry in his beak!
