My wife and I have just returned from the UK where we attended our daughter's graduation at Cambridge University. It coincided with seabird nesting time and I spent two mornings with the puffins and other seabirds on the Farne Islands off the Northumbrian Coast. The puffins were the main target and they have a trial getting the sand-eels to the chicks as highwaymen posing as gulls rob them near their burrows.

Congratulation on your daughters graduation Graeme. How wonderful that it coincided with the nesting season of these wonderful birds. Love the image with the mouthful of eels!

Graeme, amazing to see the beak full of sand-eels and appreciated hearing the story about the gauntlet they must pass thru to feed their chicks.  Lovely portrait of this hard-worker.  Congrats on your daughter's graduation, too.
