I have been privileged for the last 5 years to follow this adult pair and all their nesting seasons. This year two eggs hatched but only one survived. A little girl, we think. (She has the brown necklace that most females have, per "Birds of North America). This was taken very early on, probably not more than a couple weeks old at the most. The mom and been busily moving sticks around to keep the young'in away from the sides of the nest. At some point dad flew in and a discussion ensued. The dad flew off and came back with a stick so I assume mom was telling him to get more sticks. This image was taken during their discussion. I loved the fact the chick was right in the middle and so involved. I love these guys.
Locally they are known as Ozzie and Harriet. Canon 5D Mark III 600mm lens w/2X Hope you enjoy. Comments welcome! . website: www.kathyurbach.smugmug.com
