Atlantic Puffin - Elliston, Newfoundland, Canada

The other day I sorted 9,000 images from my recent trip to Newfoundland, Canada. ( Daunting task it was) I hope to be posting more images as I edit them.
Each year 2600 Puffins come to breed in Elliston, Newfoundland. I was there in earlier this month photographing the first arrivals for four days. They have difficulty becoming airborne and flap their wings at an amazing 300 to 400 beats per minute to maintain flight. Puffins are poor fliers they have trouble landing and often crash onto the sea or tumble onto the grass.

Nice first post and welcome aboard NSN, Jorel!
Not the best wing position for flight shot but I like the split bg.
Look forward to see more of your work here.

Jorel, welcome, nice first post and interesting info, hearing about their airborne ability, or lack thereof.
