Last fall I heard the trill of an Eastern Screech Owl, i called back and the bird over to near where i was. I decided to find some plans and build a nest box for the owls. I placed the box high up on my old purple martin pole facing my backdoor so i could observe any activity. Earlier this year my son-in-law noticed a head sticking out of the box. Sneaking over to get a closer look i determined it to be an Eastern Screech Owl. For several evening i would setup and watch the box for activity and i found that she would fly out and a second owl would join her. Later i determined that it was a pair of screech owls. I subsequently found the male perching in my citrus tree just under the box and the female in the box. Since that time I have seen her fly out and return with food for babies in the box. More recent I have seen an owlet with his head out of the box.

Nice capture and the story behind it. Can you also include your shooting details please. The eyes are nicely in focus but I would like to see more sharp feather detail.

Cheers
