Welcome to Naturescapes birds forum.

Please when you post an image give all the details of the equipment used and the exposure settings.....as it is necessary for others to analyse the image. There is a number of suggested improvements to be put forward on this image but we will await the details requested.

Regards
Graeme

Hi Chuck

Thanks for adding the details
When taking bird shots...try to get the bird isolated so the viewers has a clear view of it. Best to have the light coming from over your shoulder and get the background out of focus unless you want to show the bird in its environment. Don't cut off feet or wings. You need to be patient and get yourself into a position where you can do the above.
Happy shooting

Welcome to NSN! Even though this is not the usual kind of shot you see here, with, generally, a clear soft background, I rather like the swirling colors around the heron. The bird itself could be sharpened , perhaps, and some shadow/highlight filtering might help if you use image processing software such as photoshop. I must say I don't mind the missing feet so much here, as the bird seems to be ready to walk right out of the frame. :).
