Rachel I really like the background a lot. You have managed to get great detail in the darks and the iridescent blue, and I like how the bird is looking off into the distance. F/8 worked out well for you. Beak to tail is nice and sharp. I would like to see a bit more room on the top and right hand side.

Background is nice and exposure across darks and lights is well handled. It is rather a different pose looking away from the viewer

Nice shot as is especially the background looks amazing, Rachel. With a little more head turn it would have been over the top.
