During mating, the male white-tailed kite goes out to hunt for rodents (either mice, voles, etc) and brings them back to the female. He may either transfer his catch to the female on the nest or on a limb or even in the air. Unfortunately most of the in-flight transfers occurred to far away to photograph until this one. I used my 500mm
f/4 lens with my Nikon D7100 (settings were 1/5000, f/4 and ISO 640). Thanks for looking! |
