This Egret is classified by the IUCN as "Vulnerable".
It's  also on the ABA checklist classified Code 3.

(And my personal #1000th species of BIF captured world wide.)

Canon7d2/400mm5.6/sharpness & brightness selectively adjusted (1/2500 5.6 320) Thailand

Assuming you just took this recently, I photographed the same individual in February. Were any White-faced Plovers out on the sandspit?

And incidentally, surely this is an ABA Code 5?

Thank you Mike,

What was I thinking? It's hard to see this species in the world and even in China, never mind in North America....Surely it's a Code 5. Thanks

I didn't see the White-faced Plover but we did look briefly (10mins) , I wasn't too keen because it is still  a sub-species of the Kentish Plover and not yet recognise  as a full species yet.

Alfred, I would think it's only a matter of time before they split White-faced Plover from Kentish. I don't know why they haven't done so already (been 10+ years since its discovery); it doesn't even particularly resemble Kentish, different in both plumage and structure.

Long time no see and talk, Alfred. Nice flight shot you got here. Travelling much, I guess.
