Red-throated loon wing flap

Went to see this red-throated loon who had one thing in common with most birds. Cameraphobia.

It did come close at times but made sure all it did was look and then go back under and re-surface at an unpredictable spot but a predictably large distance away.

This image  is from one time where I got a bit of a sporting chance. After five different days at it... got a few more at the time and then back to the usual.

Well done to catch one of these beautiful birds Mike!  A couple of years ago I spotted a pair of these on a Scottish loch, and they were the most elusive and evasive species.  Several hours later and still did not manage to get a shot of anything other than specks in the distance, and as you say, they dive and disappear so well!

Nice view of the wing flap and they are so pretty. 8)
