This northern pygmy owl was shot in the rolling oak woodlands near Sequoia NP.  Nikon D7100 body, 500mm f4 lens, ISO 400, 1/1250 at f4, 0 eV, Induro Tripod, raw converted to jpg.

My next Pygmy Owl Safari is next Tuesday, March 31 if anyone is interested. This is a rare opportunity to photograph an amazingly small beautiful owl.  We leave from Visalia, CA.

Beautiful perch and background make this image appealing, only minor criticism is the bright highlight to the upper right of owl. You might consider selectively darkening it or cloning it out. thanks for sharing this really nice image.

No images in nature are perfect, but the ones that come close are the best. The bright highlight in the background will stay. Appreciate the kind remarks, just disagree with your minor criticism Ed.

It's an awesome shot. I don't find the highlight distracting at all because the subject is so strong and stands on its own.
