This striking woodpecker is found in the highlands of Costa Rica and cannot be mistaken with its facial pattern.

Taken with a Nikon D7100, Nikkor 300 2.8 VRII, TC 1.4, Tripod in torrential rain.

f/7.1 @ 1/320 sec ISO-500 Manual Flash.

Superb detail and a good view of those distinctive colours, with a lovely bright eye Rob. The rain brings out a very nice sheen on the back plumage which all adds to the appeal of the image. Nice one!
