I took this image nearly 2 years ago in my backyard. The Painted Bunting its extremely rare in our Island with only 2 reports ever made and this fellow was the talk of town for birders when I reported the sighting. Many birders and photographers came to my house to have a chance of seen this beauty. It stayed in my backyard visiting the feeder from Nov 2012 until Mar 2013. Up to today it is one of my favorite photo I have taken and a truly very rare opportunity.

The light, calling pose, and interesting background make this one really special. Beautifully processed as well. Nicely done, Ray!

Such a beautiful image of the striking bird. We had one for a few month in Oakville Ontario this year and it was a big sensation, but eventually it succumbed to the extreme cold.
