Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) in flight

Hundreads of Mallards, a couple of Trumpeter Swans and Canada Geese gather up at Memorial Park in Shakopee, MN during cold days in the winter, which creates excellent conditions for flight shots.

Nikon D7100, 500 ISO, shutter 1/1000, f/4.8, Nikon AF-S VR 70-300mm f4.5-5.6

Thanks for looking and comments.

Felipe.

An under-appreciated bird shows it's gorgeous colors in this photo.  Well done!
Are you sure that shutter speed isn't 1/1000? ;)

Thanks for you comment E.J. Peiker!

Beautiful and under-appreciated birds indeed. For me (coming from Brazil), they are just as new and beautiful as any other uncommon species around. And yes, shutter speed was 1/1000, it is corrected now. Thanks!

Felipe.

A beautiful image of one of the most beautiful ducks, I love Mallards! Superb flight shot with sweet detail and showing the gorgeous colours so well.
