For the second in my ocean wanderers mini series, I’ve gone with this close-up of Campbell Albatross. Again, we were 25 odd miles off shore, but this time we departed from Wollongong. Weather conditions a real contrast to the pelagic off Sydney, with bright skies and light winds, making holding the highlights a real challenge (and straining my post skills to control!!).
This is an adult, showing off its diagnostic yellow iris, a key field mark separating it from Black-browed Albatross. Nikon D300 + Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 + 1.4 tc; ISO 400, f/7.1, 1/2500th @ 280mm (420mm); manual; full frame. Lightroom, CC2014 and Nik filters. Thanks for looking. Martin Martin V.
