Captured this Southern Fulmar in some rough waters off the Chilean Coast.

(Search did not show any image of this species on NSN)


Caon7dmk2/400 5.6/natural light and BG/brightness and sharpness selectively adjusted.

It is a miracle that you could focus in that stormy weather at all, Alfred. Nice shot, the rough water makes it for me.

Love seabirds on pelagics!

Couple of thoughts - I'd like the shot more if the bird was positioned further to the left (turn it around and framing would be great, and the bird would still be flying towards you rather than has flown past you). I'm not sure what you selectively changed, but overall I think it could do with more brightening, or better might be to nudge the exposure in post +1/3 - I imagine the histogram would show you're not taking full advantage of the bright tone values.

Thanks for sharing, and inspires me to share some recent pelagic shots, where all comments will be most welcome.

Very nice Alfred, I like the ocean bg but I have to admit I would like less room on the left and more on the right.
