Nice shot with clean bg!
The eye looks reasonably sharp but not the rest.
Would suggest using a higher shutter speed.

I always seem to lose detail when posting these small jpegs...would appreciate workflow tips

I think that others sharpen their jpegs (after they have already sharpened the TIFF version) but I don't.  Is that what I should be doing?

Would suggest you do the sharpening as your last step in pp.
Sharpening your tiff file before converting it to jpeg for web is fine.
