Ring-necked pheasant

This was photographed in an area where pheasants are released for hunters. They are released after hunting hours to be available for hunting the following day. Even though they are pen raised they are wild as hell after they are released and still a real challenge to photograph in flight as they explode into the air.

Canon 1D4, 70 - 200 f2.8L, ISO 200, f 4.5, 1/2000 sec, manual exposure

I know how quickly these guys can move because we get them in our garden. I've nothing against shooting at all but I struggle to understand why these are released the day before hunting as opposed to allowing them to acclimatise. Any way that's for another forum! Its a lovely shot.
