Hi everyone,

Here's another from my recent travels in Peru with Glenn Bartley. This species has been high on my most wanted list for quite awhile now. With such a unique colour palette, these guys jumped out at me the first time I flipped through a Peru field guide. I was quite pleased with this frame as shooting these high elevation birds isn't always an easy task. On this particular morning, our workshop participants' persistence was rewarded with great opportunities with this species and a handful of other amazing Tanagers.

Best wishes,

Nicely done Jess. Love the intense colors on the bird and the milky background.

Very nice Jess, great looking bird, nice setting. I'm hoping to see one in Ecuador. Did you do anything in partivcular to encourage the bird onto the perch you have?

A small flock was feeding in the area. A little bit of playback coaxed them in closer and made them linger for awhile. The perch here is natural.
