We got on the lake 5:00 am, all was in total darkness as we paddled quietly out to the nesting site of the loons. Two days before the female loon was still on the nest with the male close by. It took us the best part on an hour to paddle out, with the sun just starting to peep over the horizon, there the loons and the newly hatched chick appeared in the morning mist. Yes, we were rewarded.
