Green Heron.

This is a location that I frequent in hope of finding Green Herons and Black-crowned Night Herons.  Light direction is never ideal, but I have the bird and that's what counts. (I like the tree dimensional eye)

The light is good, nice picture. The herons are cool to see them and take pictures.

HI Karl. Nice depth of field and head turn. Having the sun over your right shoulder really made the texture in the log stand out but also introduced showdown in the background making it appear more textured, however, I don't think it is overly distracting.

Karl this is a nice heron indeed.
Very good light and alert pose. I agree about the eye looking in 3D. Keep them coming.
