Capped Heron (Pilherodius pileatus)
Manu National Park, Peru

D800 | 300mm | F5.0 | 1/1250 | ISO 800

Here is another shot from my time in the Manu area. Manu is truly a wonderful -if not THE best- place for birdwatching in the new world. Over 1000 different bird species have been recorded inside the park. While that might not sound like much to any non-birdwatcher, it actually means that over 10% of all the bird species in the world have been recorded in a single National Park.

Hope you like this one,

All the best,

Alfredo

I really like the context with the habitat. I saw a few Capped herons while in Guyana this summer for my research but wasn't able to turn out any decent images. I really like how this isn't an up close and personal bird image. Well done!
