Torrent Duck (Merganetta armata)
Cuzco, Peru
Nikon D800 | 300mm | F16 | 2' seconds | ISO 100 | Circular Polarizer

I am currently heading back home to Vancouver after having spent all my summer vacations on my home country, Peru . One of the highlights of this trip was to find a pair of Torrent ducks just 2km away from the hotel I've been staying at while I visited Machu Picchu.

I have wanted to get a picture of this ducks in moving water for a while, but it was more difficult than I first thought. At a 2 second shutter speed the duck will always move and end up blurry. After 3 afternoons of trying I managed a few frames I am quite happy with.

Hope you like it,

All the best,

Alfredo

Que belleza Alfredo!
Really love these ducks as I find they have an amazing personality! love the loose composition here and how the orange beak stands in the image!

Perfectly composed. The way the partially exposed rocks and lines of rapids fill the frame make this one that much better. My favourite of yours. Estoy muy envidioso!
