Blue-winged Piitas hang about in dark places such as jungle or forest floors.
They are very comical when foraging for earthworms....they rock back on their feet light a high jumper about to take off and then launch themselves at the slimy spaghetti. This one had a prolonged tug of war with a worm that ....when stretched was longer than him. It was a dark place an these later images were blurred but here is the start of the 'big pull'. Canon EOS1d X, ISO 2500, 800mm lens, f8, 100th sec, tripod mounted. Ideally we want a smooth background but this is the habitat where the worm hunting takes place. Cheers Graeme |
