OK this is unconventional

I spent quite a bit of time in the last few years photographing cavity-nesting Bee-eaters. I wondered what it looks like from the chick's perspective. When the chicks are several days away from fledging they will sit near the entrance of the nest hole....waiting for the parents etc to bring in insects. Sometimes they poke their heads out and peer at the outside world.

The subject here is Chestnut-headed Bee-eaters

For this image I used a GoPro Hero3 and planted it in the dirt above the nest hole with the sun behind illuminating the incoming bird. From the video sequence I cloned the incoming bird for 7 selected images onto a master copy and ended up with the following sequence .

The point to note is that the large tail is used as an air-brake to slow the approach to the target.

Of course the quality of a top-notch pro-sumer digital camera is not there but it is an interesting sequence.

Cheers
Graeme

Very interesting perspective.
You cannot save time, you can only spend it wisely, or perhaps, freeze a moment of it forever in a photograph

Very inspiring work here. Wish the wing tips were recorded in the last frame.

Did you take this from video or the 30 frame mode? Love it!
