This was shot last fall at the Sacramento wildlife refuge. A great place to shoot besides the fact you can't get out of your car. This was shot out of the passengers window with a friend in the passengers seat supporting the end of my 600mm.I didn't want to chance turning the car around and having the bird fly. I find it a little awkward shooting the 600mm from the car. Long and heavy.

Love the BG and simple comp. Great coordinating colors. Maybe just a bit more sharpening on the bird?
You cannot save time, you can only spend it wisely, or perhaps, freeze a moment of it forever in a photograph

Hmmm. I see what you mean. Something was definitely lost when sizing this image for display. I find it difficult to gauge the amount of sharpening to apply for such a small image size. I am not a paying member and therefore can only post at 800px

Great light, eye contact and complementing BG. Another vote for another round of sharpening of the head.

Mike, the matching fall-colored BG adds so much to this, wonderful backside view, great head turn and nice sturdy perch on the diagonal.

I'm in the same situation in terms of the 800px limitation.  What I do in PS is reduce images posted here to 800px first, then do the sharpening.  That way, it'll display here as how I meant it to be.  A bit of a hassle, but one way around it.
Lynn
