Adjacent to the car park of one of my favourite local photography locations is an old tree with a large cavity about 1/3 of the way up it.
In the pre-dawn light I had seen a large 'shadow' flying to the hole. I stayed in the car park until the sun comes up because it affords a nice view of the sunrise. I had my camera mounted on a tripod ready for the days action when the sun rose giving that nice warm light. The rising sun shines directly onto the cavity in the tree. A car arrived with some noisy kids got out.....the 'shadow' emerged from the cavity to see what was going on....it was a barn owl and captured in beautiful morning light. Canon EOS1DX, 800mm lens, f8, 1/500, on a Gitzo tripod. Thanks Graeme |
