I was in my waterfowl blind on a backwater pond a few times this week and had some luck with Hooded Mergansers and Wood Ducks. My blind is set up by this submerged old tree. Many times the ducks will use this as a resting place but on a nice sunny day like today,so do the Painted Turtles. At the tine this image was taken there were 14 turtles on this log.

Very interesting shot. Love the color of the water and of course having two species in a single shot. Compositionally I wish the camera had been turned just a tiny bit more to the left.

Thanks for the comments everyone!  I agree E.J. but part of the log had a ugly black part of the tree sticking up you can just see part of it on the left side of the frame.
