This bird is one of Australia's most colorful parrots and quite common in the east, but and an incredibly hard bird to photograph. Unlike other parrots, Eastern Rosellas remain quite skittish and it's almost impossible to get them on a perch.
Finding a perfect spot, that the birds regularly visit and a lot of thinking got me this shot.

Thanks for looking. I will try to comment more soon. Work just keeps me so busy...

I know how long you've been wanting to get this one down Jan.
It's a really fantastic image.
Blows anything else I have seen of this bird out of the water.

Your last Rosella photographed - What now? ;)

Brian, I am developing a property for photography and the Rosellas come in from time to time, so a strategically placed perch did the trick.
Without knowing that they eventually come past and setting up for them, it would be pretty impossible to get a shot.

Normally they can be only approached when feeding on short cut grass, which doesn't really give a pretty image.
