I'm back to wish everyone a happy new year!

In September I posted a photo from a July 2015 trip to the Laguna Seca Ranch with three boys (ages 7, 9 and 15) and their mom as part of a photography lesson. While reviewing photos I found this one in my files taken that same summer evening.

Originally I had my 500mm lens on the camera and couldn't fit the cat's entire face in the frame. Once I switched lenses I was able to get a few sharp frames of the cat before we completely lost the light.

This is great Ruth! Amazing you managed to change lenses before it moved on. Fantastic lighting and surroundings. Thanks for sharing :)

This is a lovely shot. I like the pose on the animal and how it is "framed" by the greenery.

Thanks for posting/sharing.

Such a classic look-love the somewhat startled look and contrasting greenery.

Great shot...wouldn't even recognize as a Bobcat (our Oregon cats have less defined spotting and a lot more fur).

Thanks for your comments, Greg, David, Mark, Robert and Missy; it was truly exciting as well as a highlight to see and photograph this cat! And, typical cat, it looked and acted nonchalant and cool about the experience.

Simplest of elements arranged gracefully. Bravo. Well deserved communal worship.

Wow, a stunning image, the Bobcat just pops from the BG and the exposure is spot on.

Regards,

Rob

You couldn't ask for a better pose or a better placement of the cat against the background, being framed by the bushes. Very nice!
