I like these intimate close up shots, but IMO this needs sharper detail and better tonal definition to do it justice and make the maximum impact!

Thanks for your feedback. I too wish that this photo had 'appeared' sharper :-). But:

1. It was drizzling
2. The elephant was giving itself a dust bath. That dust in front of the photo gives a different effect, especially in B&W where you can't make out the colour differences.
